Haryana govt to distribute 3.16 lakh metric tonnes foodgrain

CHANDIGARH: The Food Corporation of India (FCI) has made an arrangement of 198.78 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) of foodgrain to the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yogna (PMGKAY) from July to November this year.

The total allocation from July to November 2021 under PMGKAY for Haryana is 3.16 LMT. The number of beneficiaries in Haryana is 1.26 crore.

FCI Haryana region is fully prepared for immediate implementation of the scheme in the state so that the benefit of the scheme could be passed on to the beneficiaries without delay.

The move is consequent to the successful implementation of (PMGKAY) I & II during 2020, III during 2021, the Government of India has extended this scheme for another five months from July to November 2021.

About 79.51 crore beneficiaries are covered under National Food Security Act (NFSA) which are being provided free of cost 5 kg foodgrain per person per month over and above NFSA allocation to combat the economic impact of Covid-19 on the poor.
