AMBALA: A day after six members of a family were found dead in their home in Balana village of Ambala district, the police arrested an accused on Saturday.
The police said the arrested accused has been identified as Balkishan Thakur of Sector 23, Gurugram presently living at a rent accommodation in Sector 9, Ambala City. The accused would be produced in the court in Ambala on Sunday, for taking him on remand.
Balkishan Thakur is senior official (manager) of deceased person Sukhwinder Singh, posted in Ambala, who was booked along with one Kavi Narula, owner of Sai Honda, Yamunanagar, by the police under charges of 306 (abetment of suicide) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Ambala Sadar police station on Friday.
Sukhwinder was found hanging in his home, while five of his family members including parents, wife and two daughters were lying dead on their beds.
Ambala Sadar SHO inspector Munish Kumar said, "Balkishan was arrested in this case while the arrest of second accused is pending."
SP, Ambala Jashandeep Singh Randhawa said, "It came to light so far that there was some dispute related to coupons between Sukhwinder and accused persons. Sukhwinder worked at an insurance company, which gave coupons and schemes under their plans to automobile agencies. Accused asked Sukhwinder to clear dues in cash in place of coupons. The documentary evidence related to concerned transactions is being checked and verified and exact amount would be ascertained after it. Accused Kavi Narula is absconding."
The SP said that the accused people gave Sukhwinder ultimatum up to August 26, to clear the pending amount, to put pressure on him.
In his suicide note, Sukhwinder accused his senior official "Balkishan Thakur and Kavi Narula, owner of Sai Honda, Yamunanagar that they were forcibly demanding Rs 10 lakh from him else they would harm his family. He wrote that his boss Balkishan threatened to fire him from job."
Six members of a family Sukhwinder Singh (34), his father Sangat Ram (65), mother Mahender Kaur (60), wife Bilma (in 30s) and two daughters Jasnoor (7) and Asrit (5), all residents of Balana village, were found dead at their home on Friday. The police had recovered a suicide note from the body of deceased Sukhwinder, a manager-level official of an insurance company posted in Yamunanagar district.
