CHANDIGARH: Haryana chief secretary Sanjeev Kaushal on Monday reviewed the arrangements for timely procurement of mustard, gram and sunflower.
The procurement of mustard will begin from March 28, gram from April 1 and sunflower from June 1, 2023.
Kaushal directed the officers to ensure adequate procurement arrangements, identify procurement centres, proper arrangement for storage and gunny bags and start timely procurement of rabi crops.
The CS was apprised that mustard has been cultivated on 18.16 lakh acre of area in the state while gram and sunflower have been cultivated on 93,000 acres and 37,000 acres respectively during the year 2022-23 in the state.
Thirteen lakh and eighty-nine thousand metric tonne production with a yield of 765 kg per acre of mustard has been expected this year.
Forty thousand metric tonne production with yield of 436 kg per acre of gram and 30,000 metric tonnes production with yield of 800 kg per acre of sunflower has been expected during 2022-23 in the state.
Haryana State Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation (HAFED) will procure sunflower seed and gram at minimum support price (MSP) under the Government of India Price Support Scheme (PSS) on behalf of National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (Nafed).
Haryana State Warehousing Corporation will procure mustard at MSP under PSS.
The state government has accorded the administrative approval-cum-financial sanction (RE) for an amount of Rs 311.84 crore under the reimbursement of GST on market fee under price support scheme.
Senior officers of agriculture and farmers’ welfare, HAFED, and HSWC were also present in the meeting.
