Haryana: Body of man with wrist chopped off found near farmers' protest site in Kundli

NEW DELHI: The body of a man with one of his wrists chopped off was found near the farmers' protest site at Kundli in Haryana's Sonipat district on Friday morning.

The images that surfaced on social media showed the semi-naked body hanging from a barricade.

According to the police, the deceased was aged around 35 and the body was found tied to a metal barricade near the protest site, close to the Singhu border.

"At about 5am, a body was found hanging with hands, legs chopped at the spot where farmers' protest is under way (Kundli, Sonipat). No information on who is responsible. An FIR has been lodged against an unknown person. The viral video is a matter of probe, rumours will linger," news agency ANI quoted Sonipat DSP Hansraj as saying.

"We have registered a case and further investigations are on to find out the culprits," said Sandeep Khirwar, inspector general of police, Rohtak Range.

It is being alleged the man was caught while desecrating the Sikh religious holy book, however, an official confirmation about this is still awaited.

The body has been sent to the Sonipat civil hospital for postmortem.
