Harvey Weinstein reportedly agrees to settlement with alleged victims and others

NEW YORK _ Harvey Weinstein has agreed to a $44 million deal to settle lawsuits with his alleged sexual misconduct victims, his former film studio's board members, and the New York attorney general's office, according to sources familiar with the matter.

The settlement cash will include about $30 million for his alleged victims, former Weinstein Co. employees and creditors, and their lawyers, sources said.

Another $14 million will go to the legal fees of the disgraced Hollywood producer's associates, including his former board members, sources said.

The Wall Street Journal first reported the tentative deal.

The money comes from insurance policies, sources told the paper.

A lawyer for Weinstein's brother and studio co-founder Bob Weinstein told a bankruptcy judge in Delaware on Thursday of the deal, the Journal reported.

Weinstein faces criminal charges for allegedly raping a woman he knew in his Manhattan hotel room in 2013 and performing a forcible sex act on former production assistant Mimi Haley in 2006.

He is slated to stand trial in Manhattan Supreme Court in September, and faces a minimum of 10 years behind bars on the top count of predatory sexual assault, which requires pattern conduct of charged or uncharged crime.

Dozens of women have accused him of sexual misconduct. Weinstein has denied the accusations and said he did not have nonconsensual sex with any of his accusers.

Weinstein's spokesperson declined comment Thursday night.

New York State Attorney General Letitia James' office did not immediately return a message seeking comment.
