Harvey Tyrrell death: Two pensioners appear in court charged with manslaughter over seven year old who died in Romford pub

Heartbreak: a Facebook picture of Harvey Tyrrell, who was "kind-natured"

Two men have appeared in court charged with manslaughter over a seven-year-old boy, who died in a Romford pub.

Harvey Tyrrell died after being electrocuted in a pub garden last September after he was trying to retrieve a lost football.

A post-mortem examination showed he died from electrocution.

On Wednesday, two pensioners appeared at the Old Bailey. David Bearman, 71, of Ardleigh Green Road, and Colin Naylor, 72, of Rayleigh both faced charges.

Bearman was charged with manslaughter and abstracting electricity, while Naylor was charged with manslaughter.

Both were bailed to appear at the Old Bailey on April 27, 2020.

A family friend previously told the Standard the Harvey, who attended Harold Wood primary school pupil, was a “bright” young boy.

Shortly after his death, they said: “He was a bright, happy child and his family doted on him. It is so tragic.

"Everyone is still in shock. I feel terrible for the family and his friends. I can’t believe this could happen.”
