An investigation is underway after reports of an assault between a woman and a security guard in Harvey Nichols in Bristol city centre last week, Avon and Somerset Police has confirmed.
The incident, which happened at around 3.40pm on Friday (February 10) revolves around an alleged assault and subsequent counter-allegation of assault between an adult woman - confirmed by police has being in her teens - and a male member of security staff in his fifties.
Footage of the incident is reported to be in circulation, prompting officers from Avon and Somerset Police to "ask for patience whilst a thorough investigation is completed". A spokesperson for Harvey Nicols responded to say that they are "aware of the situation which occurred at the Bristol store", adding that they "treat the safety of their staff and customers with the utmost importance".

Police have urged anyone who saw what happened or has any phone footage to get in touch via 101, quoting incident number 5223033222. A police spokesperson said: "Police are investigating an incident which happened at the Harvey Nichols store in Bristol at about 3.40pm on Friday 10 February.
"Enquiries are underway into an assault and counter-allegation of assault involving an adult woman in her teens and a male member of security staff in his 50s. The neighbourhood policing team are aware of community concern following the circulation of footage of the incident on social media and ask for patience while a thorough investigation is completed.
"Officers are reviewing all available phone and security footage and ask anyone who saw what happened to call 101 and give the reference 5223033222."
A spokesperson for Harvey Nicols said: "We are aware of the situation which occurred at the Bristol store. We treat the safety of our staff and customers with the utmost importance, and this is now being dealt with by the police."
