Harvey Elliott tells Liverpool trialist to sign contract as new picture emerges

Harvey Elliott has advised Jahkeele Marshall-Rutty to sign for Liverpool after his recent period training with the club.

The 17-year-old Canadian winger recent spent time with the Reds during the festive period as clubs across Europe continue to circle for the signature of the Toronto FC winger.

Liverpool are by no means not short of young attacking talents, with one being Elliott.

The former Fulham midfielder has not featured for Jurgen Klopp's side since suffering a serious ankle injury against Leeds United in September, having made what was a promising start to the campaign.

Although unable to make an impact on the pitch for the Reds at the moment, the 18-year-old is attempting to influence matters off the pitch.

Elliott has been pictured with Marshall-Rutty, just like Mohamed Salah, and sent a clear transfer message when responding to a comment left by Marshall-Rutty on his Instagram profile.

"Sign the ting g," he told the MLS star.

Clearly referring to a contract in this situation, it seems Elliott is keen for the club to take their initial interest to the next level.

It remains to be seen as to which team will make the first move for the talented teenager, who has reached the end of his breakthrough season in the American top-flight.

A report from MLS Soccer claimed: "European interest in the wonderkid is plentiful, including from UEFA Champions League clubs."

Liverpool may have to remain patient should they target a deal for Marshall-Rutty, however, as Premier League and EFL clubs are no longer able to sign overseas players until they reach the age of 18.

Marshall-Rutty signed a first-team contract at Toronto at the age of 15 in January 2020 and made his debut as a substitute later that year, becoming the youngest-ever player to represent the team.
