Harvey Elliott posts fresh update on Liverpool injury recovery

Liverpool starlet Harvey Elliott has posted a fresh update on his recovery from an injury sustained during the Reds' win over Leeds United last month.

The 18-year-old suffered a serious ankle injury at Elland Road and was rushed to Leeds General Infirmary.

Elliott underwent successful surgery in the days that followed and he's provided regular updates on his recovery as he eyes a quick comeback.

Last week, he took a step forward and shared a video walking on the spot in a swimming pool at the AXA Training Centre, with the purpose of building more strength in his ankle.

Now he's posted a new video, this time jogging the width of a swimming pool.

He captioned the clip "We keep pushing."

Elliott featured in four of Liverpool's opening league matches this season and he earned starts against Burnley, Chelsea and Leeds United.

There is optimism at the club that the youngster will play again before the end of the season.

“Harvey sustained a fracture dislocation of his left ankle during the game,” Club doctor Jim Moxon told Liverpoolfc.com last month.

“We were able to reduce the dislocation immediately on the pitch and Harvey had surgery today to repair the fracture and ligaments damaged in the incident.

“The operation was a success so his comeback starts now.

“We won’t put pressure on him by setting a specific timeframe beyond being able to say with confidence we expect him to feature again later in the season following our rehab programme.”
