Harvey Elliott nets first goal of Blackburn loan spell leaving Liverpool fans impressed

Liverpool winger Harvey Elliott, who moved to Blackburn Rovers in the Championship on a season-long loan on the final day of the domestic transfer window, has scored his first goal for the second-tier side.

Blackburn were already two goals to the good away from home at Coventry City through an Adam Armstrong brace when Elliott, who started for the second game on the spin, added a third.

Ben Brereton, who has been linked with a move to Liverpool in the past, provided the assist before Elliott shot left-footed from the centre of the box into the bottom corner.

Elliott then added a superb assist for the final goal in the Lancashire side's 4-0 away win, flicking the ball cleverly over a defender and receiving the return pass before crossing for Sam Gallagher to finish.

Several Liverpool fans took to Twitter to celebrate, with Blackburn supporters already having been left impressed with his performances to date.

Elliott's debut came in the 3-1 defeat to Watford midweek, but Tony Mowbray selected him again this afternoon and he delivered with a goal and a good performance.

Blackburn, who were wearing their away kit with a red shirt, host Reading on Tuesday in the Championship as the fixtures continue to come thick and fast.

That game will take place at almost exactly the same time as Liverpool face FC Midjytlland as their Champions League campaign continues.
