Harvey Elliott injury update as Liverpool youngster surgery date confirmed

By Theo Squires

Jurgen Klopp has offered an injury update on Harvey Elliott ahead of the midfielder undergoing ankle surgery.

The 18-year-old was stretchered off in Liverpool ’s 3-0 win against Leeds United on Sunday after suffering a dislocated ankle following a challenge from Pascal Struijk.

Now set for a spell on the sidelines, Klopp confirmed Elliott is set to undergo surgery on Tuesday when revealing how the teenager had reacted to his injury setback.

“I spoke to him the night after the game already,” the German told reporters at his AC Milan pre-match press conference. “He wasn’t in the best possible place for that moment but he took it already.

“He accepted it already and knew he would be out for a while.

“Today he is in London and will, as far as I know, probably have the surgery today.

“That is the next step to the way back and we all wait for news from after the surgery and that is it."
