Harvey Elliott and what ex-Fulham team-mate said about him after Liverpool transfer

After becoming the Premier League's youngest ever player last season, it's no surprise that Harvey Elliott is one of English football's most highly-rated starlets.

The 16-year-old became Liverpool's second signing of the summer when his transfer from Fulham was confirmed on Sunday, before making his debut for the Reds later that day against Napoli.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has been impressed by what he has seen so far from the teenager, who has been included in Liverpool's squad for their training camp in Evian and is likely to feature in their latest friendly against Lyon on Wednesday evening.

“I could say so many positive things about the boy,” the German said after the Reds' friendly with Napoli. “We signed him, he came here, he decided on us and could have gone pretty much everywhere but he wanted to be part of Liverpool.

“The stories with the boy start early and already he is the youngest ever Premier League player and has broken quite a few records because of his talent.

“Now he is here so let's work with him. He needs game time, we will see where he gets that but he is obviously a fine, fine footballer and that's why we were really interested.”

Fulham had wanted to keep Elliott and planned to utilise him in the first team this season following their relegation from the Premier League, only for the winger to opt to move on when Liverpool came calling following the expiration of his youth contact.

Breaking into the Cottagers first team last season, the 16-year-old finished the campaign with three senior appearances.

And that was all Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic needed to see to predict big things from Elliott, according to Sky Sports' Jim White.

Blood Red: Jurgen Klopp on the potential of new signing Harvey Elliott

“I was talking to Aleksandar Mitrovic the other day at Fulham and he was saying to me: ‘Harvey Elliott, wow’,” White said on Sky Sports News.

“He’s someone that really excites him, he’s someone that really excites him.”
