Harvey Barnes not surprised by Leicester City win after making Liverpool admission

Harvey Barnes has admitted he wasn't surprised by Leicester City's victory over Liverpool on Saturday.

The England international played a starring role for the Foxes, winning the free-kick for James Maddison's equalising strike before wrapping up the 3-1 victory with a goal of his own in the 85th minute.

Brendan Rodgers ' side now boast a six-point lead over the Reds, who dropped to sixth in the table after Chelsea and West Ham's victories on Monday night.

And with Liverpool horribly out of form since the turn of the year, Barnes has revealed how Leicester managed to overcome the reigning champions.

"You know they're a great side, but we knew they haven’t been in good form," he said. "And we know we have the quality to beat most sides. It was about getting chances and denying them a lot of the game, and then we knew we would have a good chance of winning it.

“We didn’t give them too many chances in the second half apart from the goal and when the game opened up we were able to take our opportunities.

“This year we’ve been really good against the top teams, so it’s not something that we’re not used to. We knew it was going to be difficult, but it’s not a massive surprise to win. It’s something we’ve been doing this season.”
