Harvester, Toby Carvery and Miller & Carter to reopen on July 4 - and you can book now

Restaurants across England are bracing for an influx of visitors from next month, as businesses reopen their seating areas for the first time in four months.

Under plans to kickstart the economy, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said pubs, diners and bars will be able to reopen from July 4 - with hairdressers and cinemas also getting the green light.

And now the firm behind Toby Carvery, Harvester and Miller and Carter has confirmed it will be back in just over a week.

The three restaurants have also revealed they are now taking table bookings - with fans online claiming there is already a backlog.

One customer tweeted: "No tables at Christchurch either for lunch or dinner right into August "

Another said: "Can’t believe how fast Miller and Carter has booked up."

All three chains are owned by Mitchells and Butlers - who also own a string of Miller and Carter, All Bar One and Nicholson's pubs across the UK.

The company said all of its brands will reopen on July 4, but only in England, as some parts of Britain are yet to announce the next phase of their lockdown.

On Wednesday, Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon announced that beer gardens may be allowed to reopen from July 6 and indoor restaurants from July 15, though an official statement is yet to be made.

Speaking on the reopenings, Mitchells and Butlers said some ingredients and dishes may not be available immediately after lockdown.

The company also warned that in the short-term, descriptions on menus may not accurately reflect the contents of a dish.

Mitchells and Butlers is therefore asking that any customers with dietary requirements speak to a team member before placing an order in any of the brands it owns.

A spokesperson said: "We’re taking great care to make sure that the safety and wellbeing of our guests and colleagues remains at the very forefront of all of our re-opening preparations from the July 4.

"Given the different sizes and shapes of our businesses the one metre plus guidelines will allow us to more effectively plan how we will operate our popular bars, pubs and restaurants."
