Harry Winks: No one from Tottenham has contacted me, not even Antonio Conte

Harry Winks says he remains in the dark over his future at Tottenham and has not spoken to anyone at the club while on loan at Sampdoria.

The midfielder is one of a number of first-team squad members at Spurs plying their trade abroad this season, including the likes of Giovani Lo Celso, Tanguy Ndombele, Sergio Reguilon and Djed Spence.

While others have enjoyed fighting at the right end of the table, Winks finds himself rock bottom of Serie A with Sampdoria, with just two wins from 26 games and almost certain to be relegated.

Winks initially struggled with injury but has been a regular for manager Dejan Stankovic since the turn of the year and remains focused on helping his current team-mates.

"I am on loan until the end of the season, I am satisfied with this experience, but I don’t know what the future holds and I don’t want to think about it," he told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I can only focus on the next match, but I am proud to have made this choice. Nobody from Tottenham has contacted me, not even the coach. I was and am fully focusing on Samp."

Winks' ankle injury prevented him from making an appearance for the Blucerchiati for the first five months of his loan spell, and the club are able to make the move permanent for £21million.

He said: "I feel in debt to Sampdoria. If I had been available from the start, I would have given my all to help the team, but I don’t want to think my presence would have been fundamental. This is a great team, regardless of what’s going on.

“I am sorry because the club has always supported me, on and off the pitch. It was important to solve my ankle problem. There are amazing people here, and so are the fans. There is a strong sense of beloving and I can only be grateful to the team. There have been many changes, but we’ve never lacked support. We will continue to fight, we can still make it.”
