Harry Winks' future at Spurs secure in January as legend tells Gareth Bale what he needs to do

Here is your Tottenham Hotspur morning digest on Saturday, December 12.

Winks to stay at Spurs

Harry Winks will not be leaving Tottenham when the January transfer window opens, football.london understands.

Winks did not look happy when he was substituted by Jose Mourinho in the 58th minute in Spurs' victory over Antwerp on Thursday evening.

The 24-year-old has not featured in the Premier League for Tottenham since October, and his only source of minutes have come in the Europa League.

However, Spurs have no intention of letting the England midfielder leave the club when the mid-season window opens soon.

Spurs loan update

Tottenham have a few players currently on loan deals away from north London, and they're enjoying mixed success.

Oliver Skipp - who is on loan at Norwich City - played the full 90 minutes of the Canaries' 2-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday at the weekend, and then did so again in their victory over Nottingham Forest.

Troy Parrott is currently plying his trade at Millwall, and is getting plenty of minutes for the Championship side, despite not scoring his first competitive goal yet.

As for Ryan Sessegnon, the 20-year-old has recently been voted as Hoffenheim's Player of the Month for November after impressing in Germany.

Bale told what he must do

Tottenham legend Glenn Hoddle believes Gareth Bale needs to show more "intent and aggression" if he is to force himself into Jose Mourinho's plans.

The majority of Bale 's minutes since returning to Spurs have come in the Europa League - with just three appearances in the Premier League so far.

When speaking on BT Sport, Hoddle said: "I'd like him to show a bit more intent and aggression in his mind and prove to Jose ‘I need to be in the first team in the Premier League’.

"I don't see that at the moment. If that player is still in there anywhere what he was like two, three or four years ago, then Tottenham go into another gear.”
