Harry Wilson transfer to Fulham could see Liverpool make even more than £12m

Liverpool are set to bank £12m from the sale of Harry Wilson to Fulham.

And the Reds have negotiated a 15 per cent sell-on clause that will see them benefit should the winger move on from Craven Cottage in the coming years.

A summer clearout that has seen the likes of Taiwo Awoniyi, Marko Grujic and Kamil Grabara depart the club continued on Saturday as Wilson's departure was confirmed.

As was the case with each of those moves, sporting director Michael Edwards has once again inserted a sizeable sell-on clause in the deal.

Both Awoniyi and Grujic's moves featured clauses worth 10% of any future fee, while 20% of profits on Grabara could be owed to the Reds in future.

Speaking after his transfer had been confirmed, Wilson said: “I’m delighted to sign for Fulham. From my first chat with the gaffer on the phone, I loved what he was saying and felt that he understood me as a player, and that played a massive role in me coming here.

“The ambition of the club to get back into the Premier League appealed to me as that’s where we all want to be. I’m hoping I can come here, have a good season and help get the club back into the Premier League.”

Wilson had previously been attracting interest from Portuguese giants Benfica this summer.

However, they were only willing to offer £6m to sign the 24-year-old - half of what Fulham have ultimately paid.
