Harry Wilson 'praying' Liverpool win the Premier League - explains what fans are missing

Harry Wilson is “praying” Liverpool win the Premier League title – as he declared scoring at Manchester United is the highlight of his season.

Wilson has been in impressive form during a season-long loan spell at Derby County to help Frank Lampard's side stay in the mix for promotion from the Championship.

The 22-year-old took his tally for the season to 14 goals in all competitions with Harry Wilson returns to form with two goals as another Liverpool loanee gives another reminder of his quality at Brentford on Saturday.

Wilson, who signed a new contract at Liverpool last summer, remains determined to make the first-team grade at Anfield having made his debut as a late substitute in the FA Cup third round win at Plymouth Argyle more than two years ago.

And he will be cheering on his boyhood club as they chase a Premier League and Champions League double.

“It’s great watching from the outside and seeing the lads do so well," said Wilson.

"Only one defeat in the Premier League and any other season, they’d be top by a few points, but it’s just unfortunate that City are such a strong team this year as well.

“We’re still in the Champions League, which we always seem to do so well in, so as a Liverpool fan looking in, it’s great.

“I’m just praying that we get the job done and win the league. It’s where we want to be.

“Liverpool at the top end of the table and I’m here praying that they do it.”

Wilson, speaking to S4C’s Mwy o Sgorio football show, was asked about his progress at Derby this season, with Reds fans having delighted at the range of Harry Wilson returns to form with two goals as another Liverpool loanee gives another reminder of his quality by the Wales international.

“I’d like to think there’s a lot more to my game than just free-kicks,” said the winger.

“I feel when people watch the highlights, they only see the free-kicks and goals, but I think I’ve improved my game over the course of the season.

“The favourite has to be the one at Old Trafford (Wilson scored against Manchester United in the League Cup earlier this season).

Liverpool's Harry Wilson makes incredible gesture to local club

“Being a Liverpool fan and doing it at Old Trafford was a fantastic feeling for me. There’s also the one I scored for Wales against the Republic of Ireland.

“To do that in a competitive game for your country, with a young team against a tough opposition, to see that fly in and it turn out be the winner, it was a fantastic feeling."

To watch the full interview, watch Mwy o Sgorio at 10pm on Wednesday on S4C, or on demand at S4C Clic and BBC iPlayer.
