Harry told Oprah it was not Queen or Philip who made comment on Archie's skin colour

Prince Harry told Oprah Winfrey that it was not The Queen or Prince Philip who made the racist comment about how dark Archie's skin would be before he was born.

The American host recently sat down with the Duke and Duchess for a 90-minute bombshell interview which featured several revelations about life in the Royal family and how being part of The Firm left Harry and Meghan feeling "trapped" and "silenced."

During the chat, that was aired in the US last night and will be on ITV tonight, Meghan and Harry alleged that when the former actress was pregnant with first son, Archie, that they were both told there were concerns about how "dark" the baby's skin might be.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex refused to reveal who made the racist comment - leaving many wondering who the couple was referring to.

And now icon Oprah has told that behind the scenes, Prince Harry confirmed that the questions and "concerns" about baby Archie's skin were not from Harry's grandparents.

Speaking on CBS this morning, Oprah, who attended Harry and Meghan's wedding in May 2018, said: "He did not share the identity with me but he wanted to make sure I knew, and if I had an opportunity to share it, that it was not his grandmother or grandfather that were part of those conversations.

"He did not tell me who was a part of those conversations."

On Sunday evening Oprah's highly-anticipated interview with Harry and Meghan aired across the pond and the claim that a member of the royal family asked about Archie's skin tone, prior to his birth, was one of the most shocking lines from the interview.

Meghan refused to say who the conversations had been with, saying it would be "very damaging to them", but said it happened numerous times.

She said: "In those months when I was pregnant, we had in tandem the conversations of him not being given security or a title, and also concerns about how dark his skin might be when he’s born.

On Monday, Oprah told "It was not his grandmother or grandfather that were part of those conversations" (PA)

"They didn't want him to be a prince or princess, not knowing what the gender would be, which would be different from protocol and that he wasn't going to receive security."

When he joined the interview later, Harry said he would never reveal details of the conversations.

Elsewhere in the interview, Meghan shared how she suffered from dark suicidal thoughts during her time at Buckingham Palace.

The couple also spoke out about being financially cut off from the Royal Family, relying on inheritance from Princess Diana to survive, and Prince Harry revealed that his father, Prince Charles, stopped taking his calls.

But both Harry and Meghan, who are expecting a baby girl, spoke warmly of their relationship with the Queen, and insisted they had not blind-sided her with their decision to step back.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were not paid for their participation in the interview.

CBS reportedly spent around $7million on the rights to the interview and is said to have charged $325,000 for 30 seconds of advertising during the program.

ITV paid £1million for the UK rights to the interview, which will be shown at 9pm tonight.
