Harry Styles wears black ribbon at BRIT Awards after Caroline Flack's death

Harry Styles was spotted wearing a black ribbon at last night's BRIT awards in an apparent tribute to former partner Caroline Flack.

The ribbon, believed to be a symbol of remembrance or mourning, was pinned to the 26-year-old singer's blazer as he arrived at London's 02 Arena.

After dating in 2011, Harry remained close to Caroline, who took her own life on Saturday (February 15) at her flat in north East London.

The singer is so far yet to speak out publicly on the presenter's death, Mirror Online reports.

Caroline was 31 and presenting The Xtra Factor when she started dating Harry, then 17, a contestant on the main show with One Direction.

She defended their relationship in her autobiography Storm in a C Cup, writing: "In the entertainment industry nobody asks what age you are.

"I’ve never felt I was much older than Harry anyway.

"I still feel 18 and probably act that way half the time — all those years in kids’ telly probably didn't help…

"We were both single, we got on well and we had a laugh."

Love Island's presenter Ian Stirling has also paid tribute and gave a moving speech at the beginning of Monday's (February 17) show.

"We are all absolutely devastated by the tragic news that Caroline - a much-love member of our Love Island family as passed away," he said. "Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this dreadful time.

"Caroline and me were together from the very start of Love Island and her passion, warmth and infectious enthusiasm were a crucial part of what made this show connect with millions of viewers.

"Like many of you, right now we are all trying to come to terms with what has happened," he continued. "My only hope is that we can all try and be kinder, always show love and listen to one another.

"Caroline, I want to thank you for all the fun times we had making our favourite show, you were a true friend to me - I'm going to miss you Caz."
