Harry Styles moves BRIT Awards viewers to tears with emotional love song

Harry Styles moved BRIT Awards viewers to tears with an emotional performance of his ballad Falling.

His appearance at London's 02 Arena is the first time Harry has been seen in public since the death of former girlfriend Caroline Flack on Saturday.

Doubts had been cast on whether Harry would go ahead with his performance following the tragic news Caroline had taken her own life on Saturday.

Harry looked sombre as he performed his love song, prompting silence to fall over the 02 while audiences watching at home claimed they were overcome with emotion for the singer.

As Harry performed, accompanied on stage by a piano that was submerged with water, many viewers thought he appeared to wipe away tears from his eyes.

"Harry Styles performed Falling at the Brits with tears in his eyes and his hands were shaking. Someone please give the man a hug," said one.

"Was he wiping tears away at the end?" asked another.

"Harry Styles’ performance was so deep and raw and I’m now in tears," said a third.

"That was beautiful. Thank you Harry Styles," said presenter Jack Whitehall afterwards.

The host started the ceremony with a tribute to Caroline, who he described as a member of the BRIT Awards family.

He said: "She was a kind and vibrant person with an infectious sense of fun," he said. "She will be sorely missed.

"I think I speak for everyone here when I say our thoughts are with her friends and family."

Harry Styles arrived at Tuesday's ceremony wearing a black ribbon on his lapel, that many took to be a tribute to Caroline.

The singer is so far yet to speak out publicly on Caroline though his mother, Anne Twist, has paid tribute to the TV star.

Anne took to Twitter on Saturday morning to post: "Heartbreaking #ripcarolineflack".

Caroline's close friend Laura Whitmore was also at the BRIT Awards on Tuesday, days after she paid her respects.

Laura told her social media followers she was putting on her dancing shoes for the event that Caroline had attended many times beore.

The winter Love Island host arrived wearing a newspaper print dress and heels.
