Harry Styles faces neighbour complaints over £30m Hampstead mega mansion

Harry Styles is facing complaints from neighbours over plans to turn his Hampstead homes into a sprawling “mega mansion”.

The former One Direction star, 31, has submitted a planning application to combine two of his north London properties into one, with designs including a master suite with four dressing rooms, a gallery, drawing room and TV room. The basement would feature a cinema, pool, sauna, gym and a garden water feature.

But locals claim the development could obstruct light into their homes. Residents told The Daily Telegraph the scheme risked being “a little overbearing and cause some loss of light.”

One neighbour added: “It’s sad living next to a building site all the time. The houses are constantly being snapped up by millionaires and redone. There’s less community on the street now, and some people are choosing to move away.”

Two formal complaints have been lodged with the council, with representatives for residents warning their “private legal Rights to Light” could be infringed if the build goes ahead.

Styles bought the first of the Hampstead homes in April 2019 for £8.8 million, before snapping up the adjoining house for £4.175 million. He has since added two more properties on the same road, including a third purchased last year.

Planning permission was granted in April for him to merge the properties, on the condition he create a wildlife haven, with boxes for hedgehogs and bats. However, further tweaks to the scheme have been submitted in recent days.

His representatives said in documents: “The proposed development has been carefully crafted to bring the building back as one of the great Hampstead houses. It proposes to amalgamate the two houses, along with internal alterations, extensions to the second, ground and lower ground floors, and extensive landscaping in order to reinstate and provide substantial enhancement to the Grade II listed building.”

They added that community engagement events had taken place and insisted the plans would not affect neighbours’ access to light.

According to The Telegraph, Styles hopes the project will be completed by October 2027.

According to recent reports the singer has also purchased a fourth property on the street, with speculation he is looking to rival friend Ed Sheeran’s vast Suffolk estate.

Styles was last week spotted in New York with Hollywood actress Zoë Kravitz. Reports have claimed the pair are “friends with benefits,” though they were seen sharing a three-minute embrace, with one onlooker insisting: “It was clear they are definitely a couple.”
