Harry Styles fan 'almost died' after being 'suffocated and crushed against show barriers'

Harry Styles halted a concert over the weekend as fans became crushed against stage barriers, saying they were 'suffocating'.

The former One Direction star, 28, was forced to intervene while performing at the Coliseo Live stadium in Bogotá, Colombia after eight audience members fainted and others feared they would die.

A video from the event shows Harry asking fans to take a step back and allow people to move away from the handrails. Security then went in to check on the audience.

"I am very excited to be here, and I know today is going to be an amazing show.

"But the most important thing is that everyone in here is safe, because there are a lot of people in here and it's warm," he said in a video shared on Twitter.

Some fans had queued for more than six hours to ensure they had a good spot for the gig.

Posting the video, one fan who attended the concert wrote: "I just have to say that I was in the Platinum section and I almost died.

"And this was when this poor man had to stop the concert because we were suffocating."

In the clip, fans in the front row could be heard shouting: "We can't breathe, we are suffocating."

The Mirror has approached the venue for comment. A representative for Harry declined to comment.

The incident comes after Harry recently made the mutual decision to take a break from his two-year romance with film director Olivia Wilde.

The former couple, who met on the set of Don't Worry Darling, reportedly made the decision to end their relationship after it became clear they have clashing commitments.

An insider has revealed the split has been tough for the 38-year-old actress who they say had hoped to "work through" all of the issues she and Harry faced.

"The break has been difficult for Olivia. They have had some issues, but Olivia thought they were gonna work through it all.

"She is disappointed. It's just a tricky situation, though," the source told People.

It has also been reported that there is "no bad blood" between the exes following their split, with another insider saying it was the right decision for both of them.
