Harry Styles and Ansel Elgort among actors to test for Elvis Presley in Baz Luhrmann biopic

Ansel Elgort and Harry Styles are two of the five young actors to test for the role of Elvis Presley in Baz Luhrmann’s forthcoming biopic.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Elgort, Styles, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Austin Butler and Miles Teller tested for the filmmaker last week. 

Elgort is about to start shooting Steven Spielberg’s remake ofWest Side Story, while Whiplash star Teller is set to appear in the Top Gun sequel. 

Butler has a role in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, while Styles received praise for his performance in Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk. Taylor-Johnson is known from Kick-Ass and Avengers: Age of Ultron, but also for his critically acclaimed turn as John Lennon in Nowhere Boy.

Tom Hanks has signed on for the role as Col. Tom Parker, the manager who controlled every aspect of Presley’s life. 

The film will reportedly focus on the King of Rock and Roll’s rise to the height of his fame, along with his relationship with Parker.
