Harry slept through calls telling him Prince Philip had died, claims TMZ

The Duke of Sussex is reported to have slept through multiple phone calls trying to tell him that the Duke of Edinburgh, his grandfather had died.

According to the US news source TMZ, police had to drive to Prince Harry's house to wake him and inform him that Prince Philip was dead.

The Duke of Edinburgh died at Windsor Castle on April 9, and it is reported the US Embassy was tasked with trying to inform Prince Harry at his home in Montecito, California.

But it was 3am local time and he and wife Meghan reportedly slept through the calls.

An Embassy representative is reported to have called the Santa Barbara Sheriff's Department and asked if someone could drive to the Prince's house and tell Harry abd Meghan the news, reports TMZ.

An officer is said to have spoken to one of the couple's staff at the gate and they went to tell Harry he needed to urgently call the Embassy, the news outlet claims.

The Duke of Sussex, 36, flew back to Britain for Prince Philip's funeral on April 17.

Harry is understood to have isolated at Frogmore Cottage prior to the service at St George's Chapel within the grounds of Windsor.
