Harry Redknapp predicts Manchester City and Liverpool FC's Champions League fates next season

Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has spoken out on Manchester City 's chances of winning the Champions League next season.

After a campaign in which English sides dominated in Europe, Redknapp is expecting more of the same next term.

Man City and Manchester United made it through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League before being knocked out by Spurs and Barcelona respectively.

Spurs and Liverpool made it all the way to the final before the Reds secured a 2-0 win to lift the trophy for the sixth time. Furthermore, Chelsea's Europa League final victory over Arsenal proved English sides are ruling the continent.

But what about next season and City's chances of picking up the elusive trophy they so desperately crave?

The Blues secured their second Premier League title in succession under Pep Guardiola this past season but the club desires the Champions League above all else next term - and Redknapp believes City will finally land the trophy.

Redknapp, speaking as the new brand ambassador for BetVictor's #HeyHarry campaign, explained to the Mirror: “I really feel these next few years in the Champions League are going to be made for the English clubs.

“We’ve got Man City next year, I fancy them next year. I think it’s their turn to win it. If I had to have a bet now on next year’s winners, I’d want to be with Man City.”

Liverpool's shock comeback defeat of Barcelona in the semi-finals and Real Madrid's rebuild has left Redknapp feeling that the English clubs are now the ones to fear in Europe.

“I look around now, and I really can see us dominating for the next few years," Redknapp added. “I think it looks to me that Real Madrid are in decline, Barcelona don’t look what they were, Liverpool showed they are nothing to fear."
