Harry Randall reveals gruesome unusual knee injury that sparked concern amid his agony

Bristol Bears scrum-half Harry Randall is facing a few weeks on the sidelines after suffering a gruesome injury in his side's win over Worcester on the weekend.

The clash was marred by a red card punch-up in the final minute, but before that, Randall - who represented Wales and England at age grade level - left the field in innocuous circumstances.

Early in the second half, the livewire scrum-half was supporting centre Siale Piutau when he was caught by the boot of Worcester's Melani Nanai, making the tackle on Piutau.

He went down immediately and the medical staff rushed onto the field, with fly-half Callum Sheedy also showing concern for his team-mate.

Randall was carried from the field and replaced by Andy Uren in the 49th minute.

It remained unclear what had actually happened but it turns out he suffered a pretty severe gash, which required a number of stitches after the match.

“It looked bad because he had a big gash which opened right up," Bristol Bears boss Pat Lam told Bristol Live.

“Thankfully it hasn’t got to any of the tendons so hopefully he can be back in two to three weeks but it was pretty nasty gash. It was like someone had slashed his leg.

“It was just a boot as he was going down a player was trying to tackle Siale [Piutau] and Harry was running past in support and it was just a freak accident. A boot went right across just above his knee and sliced him."
