Harry Potter TV series announced!

Here's some great news for Harry Potter fans! After much speculation about the bestselling books being adapted for the small screen, Max (formerly HBO Max) announced the TV adaptation of the Harry Potter books on April 12, 2023. Sharing the news, they tweeted: "Your Hogwarts letter is here. Max has ordered the first ever #HarryPotter scripted television series, a faithful adaptation of the iconic books."

JK Rowling's international bestselling Harry Potter series comprises of seven books, which were published from 1997 to 2007. The books will be adapted into a “decade-long series produced with the same epic craft, love and care this global franchise is known for”, Max shared in a statement. The TV series will also feature a new cast, as per reports.

“Each season will be authentic to the original books and bring Harry Potter and these incredible adventures to new audiences around the world, while the original, classic and beloved films will remain at the core of the franchise and available to watch globally,” the statement read further. It is noted that the Harry Potter films were produced by Warner Bros, which is HBO's parent company.

Rowling will be a part of the Harry Potter TV series as an executive-producer, along with Ruth Kenley-Letts and Neil Blair. As per reports, David Heyman, who executive-produced the Harry Potter films, might also executive-produce the TV series.

Commenting on the development, J.K. Rowling said, "Max's commitment to preserving the integrity of my books is important to me, and I'm looking forward to being part of this new adaptation which will allow for a degree of depth and details only afforded by a long form television series."
