Harry Potter: Warner Bros Studio Tour to get its biggest expansion yet

Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter will open a new experience, allowing visitors to explore Gringotts Wizarding Bank.

The new permanent addition will feature the banking hall, the Lestrange vault (as featured in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2), and a gallery of goblins. At 16,500sqft, it’s the largest expansion yet.

The main banking hall will be decorated with three crystal chandeliers and finished with real bass leaf, populated by the goblin tellers’s desks, complete with inkwells, ledgers, and piles of Galleons, Sickles, and Knuts – the wizarding currency.

The Prop-making Department, led by Pierre Bohanna, created over 210,000 coins for the final two films alone.

Also featured will be the costumes and prosthetics for Bogrod, Griphook and many other goblin bankers. Each prosthetic mask took weeks to create, with every hair individually inserted and veins painted by hand.

The Lestrange Vault will feature a host of treasures, including the Sword of Gryffindor and Helga Hufflepuff’s Cup, one of Voldemort’s Horcruxes. During filming 38,000 pieces of rubberised treasure were created the for the Lestrange vault including 7,014 Hufflepuff Cups.

The new addition is set to open on 6 April. Entrance to the expansion will be included in general admission ticket price.
