Harry Potter's Rupert Grint recalls 'terrifying' first night at home with daughter

Rupert Grint has remembered the "terrifying" first night he had at home with his baby daughter.

The Harry Potter star, 32, welcomed his baby daughter Wednesday with partner Georgia Groome last year.

Now speaking to Esquire, Rupert has discussed the difficulties of his first night at home with his little girl, who is now nine-months-old.

Rupert recalled: "I don't want to go too into detail, but the first night was just terrifying. You can't sleep at all, just constantly checking that she's breathing."

In fact, it's something sleep is something that has always been a source of anxiety for the Servant star.

The actor added: "Sleeping, in general, for me, is something I've really struggled with.

"I think as a kid, people always said, 'They died in their sleep,' so I always thought sleep was a really dangerous, dangerous thing."

Rupert has been dating Georgia since 2011 and currently stars in the Apple TV series Servant, which returned for a second season in January and is due a third season soon.

In the same interview, Rupert also explained why he decided to take a stand against JK Rowling's comments about the transgender community.

He stated he "respects" Rowling but he had to speak out for the trans people out of "kindness" and "respect" for them.

Last year, Rupert and his Harry Potter co-stars Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson spoke out in support for trans people after Rowling took issue with an online article about "people who menstruate".

Rowling faced accusations of transphobia after tweeting: "I'm sure there used to be a word for those people. Someone help me out. Wumben? Wimpund? Woomud?"

Rupert told The Times at the time: "Trans women are women. Trans men are men. We should all be entitled to live with love and without judgment."
