Harry Potter fans are not happy about one detail of the new M&S Hedwig Easter egg

Harry Potter fans have offered up a mixed reaction to Marks and Spencer's newest Easter egg.

M&S unveiled the new Hedwig-themed chocolate product on social media, with many shoppers sharing their excitement at the new product.

But not everyone was happy, with many complaining about one problem in particular.

Posting on their various social media pages the store said: "This is a must-have Easter treat for any Harry Potter fan! Our magical white chocolate Hedwig, complete with a milk chocolate letter, has landed in store.

"Tag someone who would love this! #HarryPotter"

The issue for customers, however, is the price, which is set at £15, reports Kent Live.

One shopper on Facebook commented: "£15 is too expensive. I've bought your other Harry Potter ones as they were more reasonably priced"

Another on Instagram was unimpressed after a previous experience: "I got a speciality (Darth Vader) Easter egg from M&S last year.

"It tasted terrible-would not recommend spending £15 on Hedwig."

A third tweeted: "But £15, come on, even for @marksandspencer that's extortionate!"

Other shoppers were less concerned about price but more about the thought of eating Harry's feathered friend.

This wasn't helped by the supermarket's social media team replying to comments referring to the treat by name and as a 'he'.

One commenter on Facebook said: "Eating Hedwig just seems wrong - no problem eating a chocolate bunny though!"

Another chimed in with a similar sentiment: "I don't think I could ever eat Hedwig".

Regardless of your feelings on eating the snowy owl's chocolate counterpart, you can pick up Hedwig in Marks and Spencer stores or buy online here for £15 to be delivered from March 17 onwards.
