Harry Potter Edinburgh: fans can now try out Butterbeer at this Old Town restaurant

Although hardcore Harry Potter fans will know this already, for the Muggles reading this - Butterbeer, the fictitious drink drunk by wizards and witches in the novels is described as tasting "a little bit like less-sickly butterscotch".

Now an Edinburgh café and restaurant in the Old Town has conjured up its own version of the ale for Harry Potter fans to guzzle.

Spoon, which has recently reopened under new management has recreated the wizarding brew with tasty ingredients.

It features hints of butterscotch and ginger with a cream soda foam served up in a tankard just like the films.

Launching the tipple on Facebook, the café wrote: "Attention Potterheads! Get your hand on our new Harry Potter inspired cocktail/mocktail Butterbeer special at Spoon!

"Inspired by the the boy who lived's favourite drink, this cocktail has hints of butterscotch, ginger with a cream soda foam.

"Get yourself giddy like the free elf you are."

You can visit Spoon at 6A Nicolson Street - check out their local produce-filled menus here.
