Harry Potter buses offered as free transport for NHS workers

Harry Potter branded buses are to be offered as free transport to NHS workers in Hertfordshire during the coronavirus pandemic.

The buses, which are covered in images from the film series, are normally used as transport to the popular Warner Bros Studio Tour in Leavesden.

Due to the coronavirus outbreak, the studio and coach company Golden Tours have had to cancel all upcoming trips to the attraction where much of the filming for Harry Potter took place.

Instead, NHS staff working on the frontlines in the fight against Covid-19 will be offered free travel to three sites in Hertfordshire, with onboard social distancing rules being put in place to keep the keyworkers safe.

Paul da Gama from the West Herts Hospitals NHS Trust called the move a “wizard idea”, saying: “Our workforce has been depleted due to sickness or self-isolation and so it’s really important that those staff who are well, but have transport issues, can come back.”

Earlier in April, Harry Potter author JK Rowling revealed that she had been experiencing “all symptoms” associated with coronavirus over a two week period, but had “completely recovered”.

She advised people to listen to medical experts on how to protect themselves from the virus.
