Harry Potter is an orphan brought up by his aunt and uncle who do not like him at all. Together with his cousin Dudley they wish that he didn't exist at all and make him live in the cupboard under the stairs. Harry though, is special. He finds out that he is a wizard and that he is to go to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry to learn magic. Only when he arrives at Hogwarts does he realise how special he actually is…
This has to be my most favourite series of books. I have read them nine times now and each time it gives me great pleasure as a reader to open that first page again and start reading the words "Mr and Mrs Dursley, of number four, Privet Drive, were proud to say that they were perfectly normal, thank you very much".
Every time I read these books I come away with something new. I cannot even bring myself to choose a favourite character because I love them all in different ways. JK Rowling is a genius in the way that she sets out storylines which carry you through the books entwining around the characters and settings.
I will certainly read these again and again as they are absolutely my "comfort" books and I still recommend them to every reader I meet.
