Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone by J.K. Rowling - review

J. K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Philosopher

In the first epic book of the series, a young boy called Harry Potter finds out he has magic in his blood.

Lots of letters start appearing and they're all addressed to him. Harry's family, the Dursleys, start moving house to escape them but, one day on a hut in the middle of the sea, a giant man named Rubeus Hagrid finally lets him open his letter. Harry is then whisked away to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He also makes some new friends: Ronald Weasley and Hermione Granger. He thinks he is going to have a good time for once in his life but noooooo! Now The Dark Lord/Voldemort/He-who-must-not-be-named is trying to find the philosopher's stone to bring himself back to life which just happens to be deep under the school. Now Harry must fight for his life to save the school and himself.

This was a brilliant book and a strong start to the series. It's scary, exciting and you can't put it down. I rate this book 10/10
