Harry Newman set for sensational Leeds Rhinos return against Catalans Dragons

Harry Newman is in line to make his long-awaited return from injury in Leeds Rhinos' trip to Catalans Dragons.

The centre has been named in the Rhinos squad for the first time in 42 weeks, after suffering a horrible double leg break last season.

But the 21-year-old was given the all clear to return to contact training last week by specialists after latest scans showed that his leg had healed.

And the Rhinos have thrown him straight into the squad for the trip to Perpignan to take on the league leaders.

It's a huge boost for the Rhinos, with Newman one of the world's brightest prospects. He burst onto the scene at Headingley and hasn't looked back since.

Also in line to play for the first time this season is Callum McLelland after he was also named in the squad. Rob Lui remains absent after an injury picked up in the win over Warrington.

Bodene Thompson and Rhyse Martin miss out through suspension while Mikolaj Oledzki and Ash Handley are currently unavailable as they are isolating.

Youngsters Corey Hall and Liam Tindall are both named in the squad.

Newman is already in the England squad after a blistering start to his career, in which he has played 36 times for the Rhinos.

21-man squad to face Catalans: T Briscoe, Newman, Hurrell, Gale, Leeming, Prior, Mellor, Dwyer, Sutcliffe, Myler, Smith, Holroyd, Vuniyayawa, Walters, McLelland, L Briscoe, Donaldson, O'Connor, Hall, Tindall, Gannon.
