Harry Maguire was kicked in the leg by police officers who told him 'your career is over', a Greek court heard this morning.
The court had been asked to postpone proceedings over the Manchester United captain's alleged involvement in a brawl in Mykonos in Greece - but the trial started today.
Maguire's lawyer told the court that the footballer was kicked in the leg by police and told his football career was over, Sky's Martha Kelner reports.
The trial also heard how Maguire allegedly told officers: "Do you know who I am? I am the captain of Manchester United, I am very rich, I can give you money, I can pay you, please let us go."
The 27-year-old was not present at his trial after flying back to the UK at the weekend following his release on bail. He denies all charges.

Mr Alexis Anagnostaki, who is representing Maguire, requested the trial be postponed as he only received the full list of charges two hours before it was due to commence.
But the court rejected the lawyer's request and the trial started, with a Greek police officer giving accounts of the incident.
Maguire was detained in police custody for two nights after he was arrested for his involvement in a brawl on the Greek isle of Mykonos in the early hours of Friday morning, the court heard.
The brawl is said to have centred around an incident involving Maguire's sister Daisy, who was also partying with the group.

Mr Anagnostaki claimed in court that two Albanian men approached Maguire's sister Daisy and injected her with an unknown substance.
This caused her to faint, with the brawl breaking out shortly after, the court heard.
Plain-clothes officers are reported to have attended the scene in an attempt to defuse the situation but their presence eventually led to Maguire's arrest.
Prosecutors claim that two of the defendants tried to escape by running off, before pushing police officers away with their hands and feet once they got into a chauffeur-driven van.

They asked to be taken to hospital but were instead taken to the police station, where the defendants claim they were beaten by officers.
Mr Anagnostakis said video evidence, shot by someone outside police station, allegedly showed the three defendants being 'mistreated' by officers and he needed time to view the footage.
But prosecutors allege that one of the defendants shouted: "F***, f*** the police," before striking an officer.
One of the officers is also said to have received first aid after suffering an injury.
Giving evidence at the trial, the officer said that Maguire pushed him hard, causing him to fall and hurt his back.
Maguire is also facing allegations of attempted bribery, as prosecutors claim he tried to get out of his arrest by offering money to police officers.
He was detained in police custody for two nights before appearing at court on Saturday along with two other alleged offenders.
The Manchester United captain has since flown back to the UK.
Maguire's father Alan was in attendance at the trial hearing in Syros today, which started at 10am local time.
The judge in the case has restricted the total number of people allowed inside the hearing to just ten because of the Covid-19 outbreak in the building.
Harry Maguire's brother Joe, 28, and friend Christopher Sharman, 29, were also arrested and face charges.
All three are charged with assault and assault against a police officer.
The Maguire brothers are further charged with attempted bribery.
Harry Maguire and Sharman are also charged with verbal assault.
They deny all charges.
The trial continues.
