Harry Maguire trains alone as England prepare for Germany last-16 showdown at Euros

England defender Harry Maguire trained alone as the Three Lions began their preparations for the last-16 tie against Germany at Euro 2020.

Gareth Southgate's squad enjoyed a rest day on Wednesday following their 1-0 win over the Czech Republic at Wembley on Tuesday night, which sealed their spot at the top of Group D.

Maguire played 90 minutes in his first appearance at Euro 2020 having come into the tournament with an ankle ligament injury.

As part of his individual training programme, the Manchester United captain was not part of the main group at St George's Park on Thursday in order to manage his workload having only just returned to fitness.

Jordan Henderson and Jack Grealish both also came into the tournament carrying injuries but have been able to play and trained on Thursday.

Chelsea duo Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell were absent as they continue to isolate away from the group having been identified as close contacts of Scotland's Billy Gilmour, who tested positive for coronavirus on Monday.

However, England are in discussions with Public Health England to see if the pair can take part in socially-distanced training that would boost Mount’s chances of being involved against Germany.
