Harry Maguire suffers injury at Aston Villa to hand Man Utd major worry

Harry Maguire limped off during Manchester United's clash with Aston Villa, leaving Ole Gunnar Solskjaer facing a nervous wait ahead of his side's crucial run-in.

Maguire appeared to suffer an ankle issue during a challenge with Anwar El Ghazi, with 15 minutes remaining of the clash at Villa Park.

The England international received treatment at pitchside before returning to the fray, but immediately sat down, unable to continue and was soon replaced by Eric Bailly.

He limped off under his own esteem, but understandably appeared far from happy.

Maguire's potential injury comes at the worst possible time for United, as they face a hectic run of Premier League games before the Europa League final with Villarreal later this month.

It also justifies Solskjaer's worst fears, as the Red Devils boss voiced his concerns over Maguire suffering an injury ahead of the match.

Due to fans gaining entry to the Old Trafford during a protest last weekend, United are in the midst of an unprecedented run of three Premier League games in five days.

They host Leicester City on Tuesday before the visit of Liverpool on Thursday, and Solskjaer admitted pre-game that even his ever-present captain would not be able to play every minute.

“Harry Maguire, he’s played every minute for us in the Premier League since he came,” said the Norwegian.

“I don’t think that’s possible now. That’s another stat that he could have been very, very proud of but I can’t really see that happening now.

Now the Norwegian faces an even bigger problem where the England defender is concerned.

But there was also cause for cheer for the Red Devils at Villa Park, as they sealed yet another comeback victory on the road to further postpone Manchester City's title celebrations.

Bertrand Traore fired Villa ahead in the first half but Bruno Fernandes, Mason Greenwood and Edinson Cavani were on target after the break.
