Harry Maguire sets two Manchester United targets after Norwich victory

Manchester United captain Harry Maguire has confirmed that one of the club’s aims this season is to lift the FA Cup.

United are now into the semi-final of the competition but were made to work hard for their place by Norwich City.

Todd Cantwell’s second-half strike canceled out Odion Ighalo’s opener before Maguire struck in the final minutes of extra time to break the resistance of the 10-man Canaries.

It was Maguire’s third goal in all competitions this season and his second in the FA Cup, after he scored a long range effort against Tranmere in the fourth round, but it is an area where the central defender wants to improve.

“I’m always pleased when I chip in, to help the team and especially in the last minute of extra time,” he told the BBC after the game.

“That’s my third this season and I want to get plenty more. It’s something I’m working on, I want to improve and take it into the rest of the season and the season after.”

Maguire became club captain back in January, just six months after arriving at the club, and he is aiming to be able to lift the FA Cup come August 1.

“I joined this club to win trophies so we’re in the semi-final of the FA Cup,” he added.

“it’s a great competition and we’ll look forward to it. Hopefully, in the semi-final we can play a lot better than we did tonight.”
