Harry Maguire believes Mason Greenwood will get his time to impress for Manchester United again after he missed a perfect opportunity to salvage a point for them against Bournemouth.
The teenager came on as a second half substitute at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday afternoon and had a great chance to cancel out Josh King's first half opener but saw his effort hit the post in the 83rd minute.
Maguire was asked after the defeat about Greenwood's chance and the defender was sure he would be back on the score sheet soon.
"He's a young boy and we don't have many attacking options and he was the one that was got the call. After Doncaster (scoring a last minute winner) he might have had confidence," Maguire told Stadium Astro.
"It fell to him and I've seen him in training he's one of the best finishers at the club but he'll be disappointed he didn't score. We worked it well and it was a good ball, he'll get his time again."
The centre back, who signed for United in the summer, also opened up on being given the captain's armband this season and how important it is to be a leader in the dressing room.
"I'm obviously not the captain Ash is and David is vice but the two games that I have [been captain] I’ve really enjoyed it,” Maguire added.
“We don’t want one captain at the club, we want numerous captains. We want leaders in the dressing room and I feel like we are starting to get this at the club now. Hopefully now we can keep progressing. It’s a big blip today and we are really disappointed but we want to bounce back.
“It’s a fantastic club, one of the biggest clubs in the world and I’m really proud to play for this club. I’m sure there will be good times ahead.”
