Manchester United will take on Derby County in their first pre-season fixture of the summer without a host of top stars, including captain Harry Maguire.
The England defender was on top form during the summer's Euro 2020 tournament, scoring and keeping three clean sheets for the Three Lions as England reached their first final since 1966. Maguire was named in the team of the tournament for his performances and is now enjoying a short holiday ahead of the new campaign.
But while Maguire and a host of other stars are still enjoying their holidays, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's preparations for the new Premier League season have begun and they will take on Wayne Rooney's Derby side in their first friendly of the summer.
United named a starting line-up including academy prospects Teden Mengi, James Garner, Dylan Levitt, Tahith Chong and Anthony Elanga as well as new summer signing Tom Heaton in goal.
Maguire is obviously not involved in the game and won't be at training for a while but that didn't stop him sending a good luck message to the team on Twitter when the team was announced.
The Reds will also take on Queens Park Rangers, Brentford FC, Preston North End and Everton during their pre-season preparations ahead of the opening Premier League game of the season against Leeds United on August 14th.
Maguire is in the middle of a three-week break from football, when he will then return to training. Solskjaer will be welcoming back several first-team stars at different points of pre-season, depending on what their participation during Euro 2020 and Copa America was.
