Harry Maguire sends Manchester United warning to Chelsea after Cristiano Ronaldo transfer

Harry Maguire has warned fellow title contenders that Manchester United will be doing all they can to win the Premier League this season after improving tenfold under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in recent years.

United are tipped to be one of the frontrunners in what could be an open race this campaign, alongside Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City.

The Red Devils captain has been a big part of a much-needed change at Old Trafford after completing his £80million transfer from Leicester City in 2019.

Solskjaer has strengthened his squad following Maguire’s arrival, too, adding the likes of Bruno Fernandes and Edinson Cavani in previous windows, as well as Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and of course, Cristiano Ronaldo, this summer.

Speaking to YouTube channel UMM, Maguire said: "I feel like over the last couple of years, we've progressed so much.

"From where we were two years ago to where we are now in terms of winning football matches but also on and off the field.

"You can see the way we want to have a lot of territory in games, create chances and score goals.

"If we improve like we have done in the past two years over the next year or two, we'll be where we want to be."

As confident as Maguire is, Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea may not be too worried, especially considering how much they’ve improved themselves under their new boss since his January arrival.

The European Champions have started the season strongly, gaining 7 points from a possible 9 despite playing 45 minutes with 10 men at Anfield last month, a game they managed to draw 1-1 with Liverpool despite Reece James’ first-half red card.

And after signing Saul Niguez on deadline day, as well as the striker Tuchel wanted in Romelu Lukaku earlier in the window, the Blues will be confident that they will be in with a shout of success come the end of the season.
