New Manchester United signing Harry Maguire has dreamt of playing for the club since he was a child, his mum has revealed.
Maguire completed his £80m switch from Leicester to United, becoming the world's most expensive defender in the process.
The defender, 26, explained his ambitions of playing at Old Trafford growing up, saying: "It's a really proud moment for myself to join such a big club.
"You always dream of walking out at Wembley and Old Trafford they're the two big stadiums when you're a kid.
"An amazing club, it's a club I always watched and looked up to when I was younger. Now I'm part of it. The atmosphere in the stadium itself is so unique and something so special."
Now his mother has expanded on those dreams on Twitter , explaining how Maguire's dream as a child was to play for United.
Zoe Maguire tweeted: "When your son dreams of playing for Man Utd as a little boy and you wake up one morning and it’s happening."
She added the hashtag #dreamscancometrue before saying: "so proud of u [sic]" followed by a love heart.
The post was accompanied by a photo of Maguire as a young child and the new signing in a United shirt.
On joining United, Maguire himself tweeted : "Thanks to everyone who has supported me and played a part in my career. I’m proud and honoured to join @ManUtd. What an incredible football journey it’s been so far."
