Harry Maguire's brother Laurence has strongly rejected suggestions that the Manchester United defender could apologise to Greek police in order to have his guilty verdict overturned.
The England international was found guilty of aggravated assault, resisting arrest and repeated attempts of bribery following a late night brawl in Mykonos last week.
He has been handed a prison sentence of 21 months and 10 days, suspended for three years, while he was withdrawn from Gareth Southgate's Three Lions squad to take on Iceland and Denmark in the UEFA Nations League next month.
Maguire has already launched an appeal against the verdict, and Yoannis Paradissis, a prosecutor representing the Greek police Maguire was found guilty of attacking, suggested his chances of success would improve if he were to apologise to those involved.
Speaking to BBC Radio 4, Mr Paradissis said: "The appeal process in Greece is a retrial, the trial starts afresh.
"So obviously if, I believe there is still time for the three defendants to say they are sorry, and then I believe that the outcome might be different."
But taking to Twitter, Maguire's brother Laurence, who plays for Chesterfield FC, linked to an article which makes reference to Mr Paradissis' claim that his sister Daisy did not mention anything about being drugged by a group of Albanians in an interview with police - something they later used in their defence.
And he tweeted: "Absolute no chance Harry will be apologising. Daisy and no one in the group was interviewed by the police."
Meanwhile it has been confirmed that Harry Maguire will appeal against his guilty verdict and a full retrial looks set to come in a more senior court.
United confirmed this in a statement, which read: "In accordance with the Greek judicial process, the filing of an appeal extinguishes the initial court verdict and nullifies the conviction... This means that Harry has no criminal record and is once again presumed innocent until proven guilty.
"Accordingly, he is not subject to any international travel restrictions."
