Harry Maguire pinpointed Bruno Fernandes' second half opportunity as the key moment in Manchester United's 0-0 draw with Leeds.
United dominated the match against Marcelo Bielsa's side at Elland Road, but were unable to turn their promising build-up play into three points.
They saw Leeds improve immeasurably on their performance from earlier in the season against United — when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side romped to a 6-2 win at Old Trafford — as a much tighter game played out.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Maguire admitted United didn't created enough clear-cut chances but believed Fernandes' chance was a big moment missed.
He said: "It was tight. We had control of the game without punishing them. We created good chances but we didn't create enough. We knew how they would play, at Old Trafford in the first half we capitalised on the areas they left and our attacking players love a one v one but today it wasn't to be.
"We kept them to a minimum, we were solid. We just couldn't find that edge. The tempo was there, the intensity was there, both teams were trying to play the right way. It lacked that little bit of quality, which is what matters. We couldn't find that today.
"Bruno [Fernandes] had the best chance of the game and on another day he puts it in the back of the net and we take the points."
Maguire admitted United will have to be better in the first leg of their Europa League last four clash with Roma on Thursday. United then host Liverpool in the Premier League next Sunday.
The United captain added: "It's a big week for us, looking forward to it, Europa League semi-final and Liverpool next weekend. We need to improve on today and improve in the final third.
"We've got to go into this big week full of confidence and try to improve on what we did today."
