Harry Maguire latest amid continued Manchester United and Man City interest

Leicester City and England centre-back Harry Maguire trained today as normal with a move away from the club nowhere nearer, MEN sister site LeicestershireLive understands.

Both Man City and Manchester United want to sign Maguire this summer but as of yet neither clubs are close to meeting Leicester's lofty valuation.

Pep Guardiola wants to add a new centre-back to his record breaking squad to fill the void left by departed captain Vincent Kompany this summer, as the City legend left the club after 11 years to become player/manager of hometown club Anderlecht.

It leaves City with just three senior centre-backs in their squad ahead of the new season.

United don't have any issue on numbers and currently have six centre-backs to call upon but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants an commanding defender to improve and lead the back-line.

Yet neither club are closer to getting their wish as it's reported that Maguire trained as normal at the club's Belvoir Drive training ground on Monday and could feature in the friendly against Cambridge on Tuesday evening.

Two bids have been rejected by the Foxes, who are notoriously tough negotiators, with United themselves having an opening bid of £70million pushed back.

It is thought that Leicester want £90million for their prized asset, which would smash the transfer record set for a defender, currently sat at the £75million Liverpool played for Virgil van Dijk, out of the water.

Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers revealed that no more bids had yet been made for the defender after their 2-1 victory over Cheltenham on Saturday and that is still the case.

“Not that I’m aware of. Certainly not in the 90 minutes," Rodgers said.

“There’s still time to go. You never know what happens with all the players but at this moment in time, this is a top-class player who will cost another club a lot of money.

“Thankfully we’re in a position where we don’t have to sell. We don’t want to sell him."

It's understood that Maguire wants to make the move to the North West, but won't be a disruptive force at the King Power to force a move.
