Harry Maguire hits back at Chelsea boss Frank Lampard with pointed Instagram message

Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has hit back at claims by Frank Lampard that he performed a "headlock" that went unpunished during his side's clash with Chelsea.

One of the games big talking points, Maguire appeared to lock his arms around defender Cesar Azpilicueta's head, preventing him from competing for the ball.

And Lampard was clear as he spoke to the media after the fame that he felt the incident should have warranted a 'clear' penalty kick.

"Holding is allowed, but headlocks don't go on," explained the Chelsea boss.

"I don't know why VAR didn't take long and there's also a monitor to look at.

"I think if the referee goes to the monitor he gives a penalty.

"I spoke to the lads about how many penalties they get here, over the last two seasons they're miles ahead in Europe."

And now Maguire appears to have responded as he used his Instagram to make clear how he feels on the matter.

The 27-year-old posted a match snap on his Instagram Story of defender Reece James' arms wrapped around his own midriff, from later in the game, a hold that also went unpunished by the referee.

Maguire will next be in action tomorrow night as his side take on Red Bull Leipzig in the Champions League while Lampard's Chelsea will head to Russia this week to face Krasnodar.
