Harry Maguire hopes to make his Manchester United debut against Chelsea on Sunday following his arrival at Old Trafford.
Maguire’s £80m move was confirmed on Monday afternoon with the England international signing a six-year deal with the option of a further year.
The 26-year-old joins up with his new team just six days before their season opener against Frank Lampard’s side – but having featured heavily in Leicester’s pre-season preparations, he believes he is ready to get straight to work.
Asked if hopes to be in contention for the first game, Maguire told the United app: “I tend to get my head down – I’ve worked hard, I’ve done every session and I’ve played every game for Leicester so my fitness is there.
"That was a big part for me to play because if I ended up getting the move that I wanted, I would have been fit and in contention to play the first game.
"I feel like I’m ready to go, but obviously it is the gaffer’s decision.”
