Manchester United captain Harry Maguire reportedly confronted executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward as Red Devils stars voiced concerns over the club's involvement in the European Super League.
Woodward was forced to hold an emergency meeting with the United players on Monday, the morning after the news broke, as many are said to have arrived at Carrington unimpressed by the entire situation.
In particular, United players are said to have been disappointed by the club failing to give them prior notice.
Instead, the bombshell news - which directly affects Manchester United - broke while the players were in action against Burnley in the Premier League.
According to the Daily Mail, players were also unhappy with the way manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was left to front the media moments after the news broke.
They believe he was in some ways thrown under the bus, with the board unavailable to comment on the developing situation.
The paper also reports that Red Devils skipper Maguire showed his displeasure with the entire situation by confronting Woodward on the issue during Monday's meeting.
Woodward has gone all-in on the new proposal and has stepped down from his role with UEFA by resigning from the ECA.
United co-chairman Joel Glazer, meanwhile, has been announced as vice-chairman of the Super League.
